Our Goal to Build a
Marshview Classroom

What began as a major City drainage project and some disruption to our school and surrounding neighborhood has created an unexpected opportunity. For this year’s Boosterthon we are making the most of the "mud” and raising money to bring the Lowcountry to life with an outdoor classroom! 

Let’s give our children and all SASMS students the opportunity to experience science rather than simply read about it. 

Our City Council & the Mayor’s Office, Charleston Parks Conservancy, & Clemson’s Architecture & Design Programs are all interested in helping SASMS achieve our goals but we have to do our part too!

Financial Initiatives

Marsh-view Outdoor Classroom

Thanks to the Storm Drain Project, the city cleared a portion of brush leading to the marsh from the carpool line. We want to take advantage of this clearing by creating an immersive classroom that takes advantage of our surroundings.

Field Trips

In the 2025-2026 school year, the PTA fully funded a flagship field trip for each grade, at no cost to parents or students. This year, we aim to continue this initiative.

Outdoor Space Upgrades

The SASMS PTA is working on enhancing our outdoor spaces with the following upgrades:

  • Beautification on Playground Surrounding New Water Fountain: Last year the PTA funded a water fountain on the playground, this year we want to make the area surrounding it more attractive and functional for the students.

  • Bike Racks: We are looking to add additional bike parking to the front walker entrance.
